Catalonia is a millenary nation with a cultural identity defined by the diversity of societies that have visited and inhabited its geography since the time of the Phoenicians and Greeks. Besides having its own language and history, the Catalan society has been always characterized by its innovative, forward thinking and entrepreneur attitude. These attributes have shined with particular intensity in the culture sector, in which continue to do so.  Excellence and the combination of tradition and continuous evolution are two pillars of the Catalan culture since its origins.

In present times, the Catalan culture sector shares the same challenges and opportunities with the rest of the ‘globalised’ world, permanently working to find new paths of expression and combining awareness of the international scene with the search of its own original alternatives.

Catalonia (Catalunya) is one of the seventeen Autonomous Communities of Spain. It borders France and Andorra to the north, Aragon to the west, the Valencian Community to the south, and the Mediterranean Sea to the east.
