Catalan Arts internationalises Catalan music at Primavera Pro

A total of 40 Catalan artists will take to the stages at Barcelona's Primavera Sound from 30 May to 4 June. A programme featuring a broad range of styles from well-established artists and acts new on the scene. Primavera Sound and its industry meeting, Primavera Pro, give artists a unique opportunity to be heard by local and international audiences.

Catalan Arts—the ICEC internationalisation brand—aims to make Primavera Pro a strategic platform for the Catalan music industry. With this in mind, it once again supports Primavera Pro and has organised a number of activities such as the traditional welcome botifarrada and the meeting with the international press.

• Briefing for music industry professionals

The first activity organised by Catalan Arts took place on 25 April at the ICEC to provide tools and resources to optimise presence and business at the event. Aimed at all industry professionals, it featured the new developments for Primavera Pro 2017 and the keys to getting the most from the festival, presented by Primavera Sound director, Alberto Guijarro.

• Networking session and welcome botifarrada

The now traditional welcome botifarrada organised by Catalan Arts at Primavera Pro will take place on day one, Wednesday 31 May in the CCCB's Pati de les Dones. This fun musical gastro event kicks off the festival and will be the initial meeting point for Catalan professionals and international visitors to Primavera Pro, which last year numbered over 3,500 (half of them foreign).

The soundtrack is care of three up-and-coming Catalan artists on the bill at Primavera Sound 2017 and who will also be playing the CCCB as part of Primavera Pro: they are PAVVLA, Odina and Màquina Total.

• Exclusive session for the international press

For the second year running, the Catalan groups will be presented to the international press in an exclusive session organised by Catalan Arts. It is aimed exclusively at members of the international press attending Primavera Pro, to introduce them to the emerging independent music culture of Barcelona/Catalonia.

• Catalan artists directory and other promotional material

To further promote the Catalan groups and artists that will be performing at this year's Primavera Sound, Catalan Arts has published a directory of Catalan artists on the festival line-up. Copies of the directory will be in the goody bags handed out to accredited professionals at Primavera Pro and will also be available in the professional areas.

Also in the bag will be a copy of the latest compilation CD Pop-rock from Catalonia 2017 released by Catalan Arts. The CD include 15 tracks selected from among all original releases between January and December 2016 by Catalan groups and singers living and/or working in Catalonia.

You can also listen to artists in the Primavera Sound line-up on playlists on Spotify and Apple Music.

Finally, there will be further promotion of the Catalan music industry in the social media (@playcatalan on twitter and catalanarts on facebook) and in the Catalan Arts newsletters.
