The Catalan publishing industry takes part in the Guadalajara International Book Fair
  • Thirty-five Catalan publishers will be represented at the Guadalajara International Book Fair thanks to the ICEC’s stand.

For the third year running, Catalonia will have an institutional stand at the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL Guadalajara). The Ministry of Culture organised the stand through the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC) under its internationalisation brand 'Catalan Art Books', giving 35 companies from the publishing industry in Catalonia a chance to shine.

FIL Guadalajara, which will be held from 25 November to 3 December, is one of the world's biggest literary festivals and the most important publishing gathering in Ibero-America. It is an event that features book rights trading, major Latin American book distributors and a public cultural festival where the books and writers are the stars of the show.

The FIL programme for this year, which marks its 31st edition and has the city of Madrid as the guest of honour, will lay the groundwork for the dissemination of the thought, culture and science of our time. This edition expects to host more than 20,000 industry professionals, as well as over 2,000 publishing houses, in the exhibition's 34,000 m², where 400,000 titles from 47 countries will be showcased.

It is habitual to find a large number of professionals from Catalonia at the Fair. In 2015 the institutional stand hosted 28 publishers, and 35 in 2016, representing a large portion of the Catalan publishing industry. Furthermore, Catalan culture was the guest of honour at the FIL's 2004 edition. Catalonia's stand at the FIL is an open space for networking among the various professionals in the industry (editors, literary agents, association, etc.) and is designed so that they can hold business meetings, meet with their foreign counterparts and provide exposure for the variety and vitality of the Catalan publishing industry.

The companies represented at the 2017 edition are:
