The Ministry of Culture once again takes Catalan music to Midem in Cannes

Catalonia returns for another year to Midem in Cannes, with an institutional stand organised by the Ministry of Culture, via the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC) under the internationalisation brand Catalan Arts, where 12 companies from the Catalan music industry will be present.

Midem is considered the most prestigious international conference for companies from the music industry. This year, from 5 to 8 June, it will celebrate its 52nd event in Cannes. Over the course of four days, the event allows industry professionals access to an extensive schedule of key notes, speed meetings, showcases, pitches and all kinds of networking activities.

During last year's event in 2017, a total of 44,000 official representatives from 80 countries attended Midem, as well as representatives from 1,824 companies with the aim of doing business with their industry peers and other professionals from around the world.

The Catalan stand at Midem (P3.B 7) is a workspace open to industry professionals from Catalonia, where they will be able to carry out business meetings and present their work. Representatives from 12 Catalan organisations will participate: BMAT, Discmedi, Distribucions Musicals 09, Doctor Music Concerts, Ediciones Musicales Clipper’s, Hans Kusters Music, Meta Network, Nebula, Sonosuite, Teddysound, Unison, Voice Magix and Catalan Institute for Cultural CompaniesCatalan Arts

Representatives from the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies' London and Paris offices will be in attendance to support the Catalan organisations seeking to take their business to France or expand their network of international contacts.

Additionally this year, Voice Magix, whose headquarters are located in Barcelona, has been chosen from among 234 candidates from 42 countries as a finalist for the Midemlab international startup competition in the Music Creation & Education category. The selection was made by the competition partners: Kima Ventures, Music Ally and Bluenove.
