ICEC offers Catalan Book sector a stand at London Book Fair
  • The London Book Fair, one of the most prestigious international book fairs on the international scene, will take place from 12 to 14 March in London.
  • The initiative is framed in the line of actions that the Department of Culture carries out to promote Catalan literature and the internationalization of the publishing sector with the internationalization brand Catalan Arts - Books.

The Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC) is organising a stand at the London Book Fair, one of the most prestigious international book fairs on the international scene, which will take place from March 12 to 14, at the disposal of companies and professionals in the book sector of Catalonia. The stand identified with the internationalization brand of ICEC, Catalan Arts - Books, will be located at Hall 7 of the fair with the number 7G50A, next to the stand of the Institut Ramon Llull, and will serve as a meeting point and business where to develop with the maximum facilities the activities of Catalan companies and professionals present at the fair.

With a 48-year history, the London Book Fair is considered the most important book event of the spring season on the international publishing calendar. The fair is for trade visitors only and is very much geared towards the business aspect of publishing, particularly the sale of rights.

The participation of Catalan publishers and literary agents in this fair forms part of the activities implemented by the Catalan Ministry of Culture towards the promotion of Catalan literature and the internationalisation of the publishers and illustrators in the field. To this end, the Ministry of Culture regularly attends major book industry events, including Frankfurt Book Fair, Guadalajara International Book Fair (Mexico), Bologna Children's Book Fair (Italy) and also this year the London Book Fair (United Kingdom).

Catalan literature will be also present at the London Book Fair within two different panels at the faire venue featuring writer Albert Forns and agent Bernat Fiol. A Different Window onto the World. Indigenous Language Literature, Identity and Translation in Scotland, Wales and Europe (March 13th at 11:30 AM) is the title of the first seminar where Albert Forns will take part. Hours later will take place another seminar featuring Bernat Fiol under the title Translating Affinities: Catalan and English Contemporary Literary Exchange (March 13th at 4:45 PM).
