More than 70 participants will be present at the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies' stand in the Bologna Children's Book Fair, the sector’s largest trade event

• The Catalan stand forms part of the range of actions implemented by the Ministry of Culture to promote Catalan literature and the internationalisation of the publishing sector.

The Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC) will, once again, take part in the Bologna Children's Book Fair, held from 1 to 4 April, with an institutional stand which will serve as a base for a total of 74 Catalan entities, including publishing houses and associations specializing in children's books, illustrators and industry institutions. The bannering for the 64m2 exhibition stand will feature the ICEC’s internationalisation brand, Catalan Arts - Books, promoting a collective identity for the sector and providing a well-equipped space for the professionals represented to conduct their business activities at the fair.

Having been running for more than 50 years, the Bologna Book Fair has become the leading industry event for the children’s publishing sector. For Catalan publishers it represents an important opportunity to promote themselves at an international level, as well as to buy and sell rights and discover new talent.

The presence of Catalan publishers, illustrators and literary agents in this fair forms part of the activities implemented by the Ministry of Culture towards the promotion of Catalan literature and the internationalisation of the publishers and illustrators in the field. With this objective, the Ministry of Culture regularly attends major professional events in the publishing industry, including the London Book Fair, the Frankfurt Book Fair, the International Book Fair in Guadalajara (Mexico) and, for the first time this year, the International Book Fair in Buenos Aires, to which Barcelona has been invited as the Guest City.

In order to promote the work of the Catalan publishers, illustrators and other industry representatives attending the Bologna event to a wider audience, the ICEC has published a brochure, Catalan Arts – Books, that will be distributed to the accredited professionals at the fair.
