From May 16th to the 18th Wrexham -North Wales- will be the center of the 9th Edition of Focus Wales, a Music professional Conference, hosting 200 bands performing across 20 stages, showcasing the best new acts from around the globe. Electronic artist Museless and Dreampop band Agost will take the stage on May 17th in what is the second time in a row collaboration between Catalonia and Wales Music scenes.

Open to both general public and industry delegates, Focus Wales attracts around 10,000 people over the course of three days and it’s one of the best opportunities to network with professionals from United Kingdom and beyond.

On May 16th, a reception will be host to warm up for the Catalan showcases on Friday night, bringing the chance to interact with venue and festival programmers, as well as other industry key players. The event, organized in collaboration with the Balearic Institute, will take place in the Festival’s hub, the Tŷ Pawb building.

The exchange between Catalan Arts, MMVV and Focus Wales started last year with Maria Arnal and Marcel Bagés duo, singer-songwriter Matthew McDaid and psychedelic rock band The Zephyr Bones performing at Focus Wales 2018. And the other way around, Welsh acts Jack Found and The Gentle Good were included in last MMVV live music festival line-up.

The internationalization of the music sector

With the aim of promoting and facilitating the access of Catalan cultural and creative companies to national and international markets, the ICEC’s Market Area works through the Catalan Arts brand to connect, advise and promote their internationalisation.

As a result of the funding made available for supporting internationalisation projects, Catalan music companies took part in 155 professional events around the world in 2018, 20 of which were in the United Kingdom.
