31 Catalan Companies exhibit creations at NiceOne Barcelona, the video game sector's leading event
  •  NiceOne Barcelona is the new name of Barcelona Games World ·
  • This fourth edition will take place from 28 November to 1 December at the Gran Via trade fair site in L’Hospitalet

The Ministry of Culture’s Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC) will be attending the fourth edition of NiceOne Barcelona(formerly Barcelona Games World), to be held from 28 November to 1 December, with a stand featuring 27 Catalan companies. Following the three previous, highly successful editions, the Catalan stand organised by the ICEC, under its internationalisation brand Catalan Arts - Video Games, is making 204 m² available to Catalan companies, so that they can present their games to professional visitors and the general public, hold business meetings and network with professionals from other countries.

At this main event for the video game sector, which targets both professionals and consumers, the ICEC is making various infrastructures and services available to Catalan video game developers for the fourth year running, to help them gain visibility at the trade show.

In 2018, the festival attracted a total of 138,000 visitors, 200 exhibitors and more than 500,000 viewers via streaming.

The following 27 companies will be represented at the Catalan stand: 2Awesome Studio, 3bytes, 3D2 Entertainment, Adver2Play, Anarkade, Antidote by Sekg, Asimov Studio, Astral Pixel, Baby Robot Games, Chloroplast Games, Dabadu Games, David Flores Miras, Dolores Entertainment, Gamestry eSports, Grimorio of Games, Guinxu, Isolated Games, Jandusoft SL, Kaneda Games, Mango Protocol, Nape Games, Oxiab Game Studio, Petoons Studio, SandBloom Studio, Team Garden, and ViOD Games Studio.

The four Catalan companies, Digital Legends (P4 C250), Guim Games (P5 G151), Project 37 (P5 F180) and Weikend (P5 F180), will even have their own stands at the show.

The festival's aim is to take video games beyond screens and make the visitors part of the action. Noteworthy among this year's new additions are two immersive experiences, which are inspired by horror in the gamer imagination, areas for virtual reality and augmented reality, and LVP eSports competitions. The trade show, which will cover more than 60,000 m² with 198 exhibitors, will also debut a new area with 320 game consoles arranged by theme to heighten the gaming experience and offer fans the most popular games of the season.

One of the highlights is an activity in which visitors can climb aboard the Ourang Medan, the Dutch ship that disappeared at the end of the 1940s on the Strait of Malacca in Indonesia, in a scene from Man of Medan, the first title in The Dark Pictures Anthology series by Bandai Namco Entertainment. In a space measuring more than 200 m² and eight different scenes, Man of Medan: An Immersive Experience will recreate the inside of the ship's hull, proposing an activity in which groups of 3 to 5 people will have to escape the iconic ghost ship.

Another new feature will be an area dedicated to Technosports, a discipline combining eSports and augmented and virtual reality, which is attracting a large number of fans from around the world. Among the different experiences will be Red Helmet, which will offer a cooperative game in which all players on the team will have to take part to overcome the enemy.
