The 24th edition of Trapezi Reus, Catalonia's international circus fair, moves to July
  • The new dates are provisional and will depend on the measures and legislation put forth by the Government of Catalonia in response to the COVID-19 crisis

The current pandemic declared by the World Health Organization has resulted in a number of recommendations being made to combat the outbreak. The Spanish government aimed to put these recommendations into practice via Royal Decree 463/2020, of 14 March, declaring a state of emergency for the management of the health crisis brought on by COVID-19, including its appropriate roll-out and any subsequent amendments.

Among the measures outlined in the aforementioned decree is the cancellation of all public performances, which includes Catalonia's strategic circus showcase, Trapezi Reus. In light of this, the fair's managing board, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Reus City Council and Tarragona Provincial Council, has no other choice than to postpone this year's fair, originally scheduled to be held from 14 to 17 May 2020.

If the circumstances and legislation so allow, the fair will take place from 9 to 12 July. Otherwise, as long as we are not forced to cancel this year's edition, we will continue to work out any potential alternatives, either in terms of scheduling or with respect to the fair's structure and format.

The Ministry of Culture, Reus City Council, Tarragona Provincial Council and the fair's managing board wish to reiterate their support for the cultural sector during these trying times, as they are certain that this will be key in getting through the current crisis and back to life as it once was. In the meantime, we must do our best to respect the continuing measures; it's up to us to protect the health of our fellow citizens.
