Jolly Damper & Paula Valls, Playback Maracas and Tarta Relena, selected to perform at Catalan Music Showcase on BIME 2020 programme with support of ICEC - Catalan Arts

The Catalan Music Showcase is the result of collaboration between BIME PRO and Catalan Arts to give Catalan bands an opportunity to play in Bilbao to an audience of music industry professionals.

From October 26 to 29, BIME PRO will once again be the meeting point for music professionals. The event has its epicentre in Bilbao but this 8th edition, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be held in a hybrid format (on-site and online).

Jolly Damper & Paula Valls, Playback Maracas and Tarta Relena are the Catalan musical projects selected to perform in Bilbao on October 29 as part of the BIME CITY on-site programme with the support of the ICEC - Catalan Arts. The Catalan Music Showcase is the result of a collaboration between BIME PRO and Catalan Arts, the ICEC's internationalization brand, with the aim of offering bands an opportunity to perform in front of festival programmers, managers, journalists and other music industry professionals taking part in BIME and thus contribute to the international promotion of Catalonia's emerging talent.

The Catalan Music Showcase will begin with duo Tarta Relena which explores the sounds of different styles of vocal music a cappella. Next up will be Jolly Damper & Paula Valls, a visual electropop project born in El Penedès, with the ear between London and Bristol and the Barcelona indie scene as a reference. Finally, Mataró duo Playback Maracas will present their take on Latin electronic pop, full of analogue beatboxes, Martian keyboards and exotic guitars.

The BIME CITY programme will feature thirteen concerts, online showcases and the presentation of the documentary about Pau Donés by Jordi Évole. The stages of BBK, Bilborock and La Ribera will be the best showcase for some of the most promising bands on the Spanish scene. Catalan bands Jolly Damper & Paula Valls, Playback Maracas, Tarta Relena and Simona are also on the bill. All the venues will be adapted to COVID-19 protocols and, as always, will be open to Bilbao residents as well as professionals, while space allows.

Open to both the general public and professionals, BIME is one of the music industry events in Spain that have seen the most growth in recent years, both in number of spectators and in attendance by local and international professionals. So far, professionals from more than 37 countries have registered with BIME PRO, including Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, the USA, Israel, Finland, the Czech Republic and Norway.

Registration to attend the conference is still open for all activities, on-site and online. Places are limited and can be purchased at www.bime.net.
