  • Since 2012, a total of 36 groups have participated in Eurosonic and ETEP with the support of the Department of Culture through ICEC - Catalan Arts.

The musical projects of Las Karambas, Los Aurora, Pinpilinpussies, Playback Maracas and Tarta Relena have been selected to be part of the artistic program of Eurosonic (ESNS), the influential festival of Groningen (Netherlands) and one of the professional meetings of the most important music in Europe, which will take place online from 13 to 16 January 2021.

The five bands will also take part in the European Talent Exchange Programme (ETEP), an initiative supported by the European Union that aims to facilitate the movement and recruitment of European groups between festivals across the continent. The Catalan Institute of Cultural Enterprises (ICEC), as a partner of the ETEP program, offers help to groups and support for promotion through its internationalization brand, Catalan Arts – Music.

The thirty-fifth edition of the ESNS will be 100% digital and online, due to restrictions on containing the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the focus on Europe and emerging talent postpones the usual focus by country to dedicate the edition to the whole continent and promote new online networking opportunities among the hundreds of professionals who are usually accredited – managers, bookers, programmers, artists, etc.

This year, the Catalan music scene will also have more presence than ever in the program. In addition to the virtual concerts of the five selected bands, ESNS will premiere the exclusive documentary Ready to explode! Ready to export! (2021) produced by the ICEC (Catalan Arts) with the aim of amplifying the international projection of emerging talent and music made in Catalonia. Written and curated by journalist Marta Salicrú, modern music expert and director of Ràdio Primavera Sound, the documentary presents the new and vibrant Catalan scene through eleven promising projects and in an ideal stage of expansion: b1n0, EJ Marais, InnerCut, Las Karamba, Los Aurora, Marta Cascales Alimbau, Meritxell Neddermann, Pinpilinpussies, Playback Maracas, Tarta Relena and Vic Mirallas.

In addition, the Catalan band Maruja Limón, who performed at the last edition of ESNS in Groningen, has been selected to be part of a 5-episode web series produced by ESNS.

Registrations for ESNS21 are now open through the esns.nl website at a reduced price of € 50. Accreditation will give access to the entire digital platform, which will offer live concerts, conferences, presentations, networking tools and access to the database of music professionals.
