The younger Catalan music scene is set to debut at Quebec's emerging and alternative music festival Le Phoque OFF. From 12 to 20 February, the festival will host a virtual Catalan stand and include the documentary Ready to explode! Ready to export! (2021), a look at the emerging modern music scene produced by the ICEC through its internationalisation brand, Catalan Arts, on its showcase bill.

Le Phoque OFF is the event for French-speaking emerging music in Canada. This year sees its seventh edition which, for the first time, will be totally online. The festival kicks off on 12 February with access for the general public, while the professional programme will take place from the 15th to the 19th. Via its Brandsfan platform, Le Phoque OFF will present some thirty artists and aid exchange between Canadian and international music industry professionals. Amongst other professional activities, the festival will hold virtual meetings for accredited professionals every day a 3 pm (9 am Quebec time).

On Tuesday 16 February at 5 pm (11 am Quebec time), as part of the official showcase programme, eleven promising Catalan acts perfectly poised to hit a broader scene will be featured thanks to the documentary Ready to explode! Ready to export! (2021) produced by the ICEC - Catalan Arts with the aim of boosting the international profile of emerging talent and music made in Catalonia. With selected artists and script by journalist Marta Salicrú, expert in modern music and director of Radio Primavera Sound, and directed by Lluís Huedo, the documentary presents the new vibrant Catalan music scene through the most recent projects of artists b1n0, EJ Marais, InnerCut, Las Karamba, Los Aurora, Marta Cascales Alimbau, Meritxell Neddermann, Pinpilinpussies, Playback Maracas, Tarta Relena and Vic Mirallas.

The Catalan music industry will have a virtual stand under the Catalan Arts Music brand, which represents Catalan firms and talent. More than eleven Catalan accredited companies are taking part, along with ICEC's Paris and London delegates, along with the Barcelona office, who will moderate digital activity at the stand to promote Catalan talent and continue to cultivate relationships in the international market.

Digital and hybrid initiatives like this are, today, a good opportunity to continue to show Catalan talent in regions as far-flung as Quebec and to build a network of professional relationships that will later open the doors to contracts and international tours.
