Catalan music takes its place at Monkey Week, with the support of the Ministry of Culture

Fifteen Catalan music bands will be attending Monkey Week, one of the most important indie music events in Spain. Monkey Week takes place in Seville from 13 to 15 October. The Ministry of Culture, through the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies, has reached an agreement with the event organisers to promote the presence of Catalan bands.

The bands taking part are: Alex Bass & The Same Song Band, Boreals, Cala Vento, El Petit de Cal Eril, Flamaradas, Grushenka, Mazoni, Miquel Vilella, Museless, Nothing Places, Ocellot, Pavvla, Salfumán, Tori Sparks and Xebi SF. The majority of the bands will give two performances.

On Friday, 14 October, at 3 pm, the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC) will organise a networking session to help put the Catalan musicians in contact with international professionals attending Monkey Week and with those from the rest of Spain.

The 2016 edition of Monkey Week has one important change with respect to previous years, moving from Puerto de Santa María, where it has been held since 2009, to Seville. This change aims to enable the event to raise its profile significantly. During the three days of the festival and conference programme, Monkey Week has more than 100 concerts scheduled on 19 different stages distributed around the city. The event will be attended by around 400 professionals.
