Digital culture startups return to 4YFN Barcelona 2019
  • The Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC) will once again be actively participating in the 4YFN Conference with two stands that will host 13 Catalan digital culture startups.
  • This will be the ICEC’s fourth year at 4YFN, which will take place from 25 to 27 February and is expected to be attended by more than 20,000 professionals.

The sixth edition of one of the world's most important conferences for startups in the mobile and digital ecosystem, 4YFN (Four Years From Now), will take place between 25 and 27 February in Barcelona. The event will host more than 700 exhibitors in over 18,000 m2 of space, with an expected attendance of 20,000 professionals including up to 1,000 investors. 4YFN – organised in conjunction with the Mobile World Congress – aims to emphasise innovation and technological creativity, bringing entrepreneurs, investors, companies, public institutions and event organisers together under one roof, providing them with personalised networking activities, technical skills workshops, talks, connectivity tools and innovation programmes to promote the health of the technology sector.

The Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC) will be present for the fourth consecutive year with a stand that, through its internationalisation brand Catalan Arts, will be made available to Catalan digital culture companies to help them to raise their international profile. The Catalan companies in attendance have all been granted Digital Participative Loans, the finance product launched by the ICEC four years ago aimed at helping startups operating in the field of digital culture.

The thirteen companies that will be represented through the 4YFN ICEC stand include online game and video game studios and developers, audiovisual content development and/or recommendations platforms, startups specialising in transmedia and the monetisation of digital content, companies making use of the latest technologies for music distribution, educational app developers and a platform that aims to encourage art collecting. The list of companies is as follows:

1. Antidote: platform that links video game players and companies for user experience analysis.

2. Filmarket Hub: online market for series and film development.

3. Garage 51: a studio specialising in RPG and action video games for mobiles.

4. Giantfox: indie studio presenting its first video game, Rise of Titans.

5. Herobeat Studios: independent video game studio with products that contain a strong ecological and environmental message.

6. isnotTV: media-focused audiovisual content search and recommendations platform.

7. KOYAC: online platform looking to encourage creativity and art collecting.

8. MonkingMe: application for free and unlimited music streaming.

9. Petoons Studio: independent studio developing video games and games for children and families and pioneers in the art of storyplaying.

10. Playmorss: digital tool that allows you to create audio and video playlists using music from YouTube, Vimeo, Spotify and Bandcamp.

11. Tap Tap Tales: internationally-recognised developers of licensed-based educational video games awarded a Digital Participative Loan – the ICEC funding programme created four years ago to help launch startups in the field of digital culture.

12. Tviso: service to find series, movies and TV shows that can be viewed legally through the internet.

13. Unison: management entity that utilises the most advanced technology to track music use.

These companies will be able to showcase their products and services to the professionals attending 4YFN, reflecting the diverse cultural applications of the most innovative technologies and the prominence of Catalan cultural startups in the fields of research, entrepreneurship and knowledge. 4YFN offers them a great opportunity to gain visibility and establish international connections with possible partners and investors from around the world, and the Catalan Arts stand also provides them with a meeting space that will enable them to explore technological cooperation and R&D opportunities in different sectors and on an international scale.

The stand will further act as a base for ICEC representatives to present the Ministry of Culture’s support policies and financial instruments for creative companies and to help forge links between international professionals and the Catalan startups. The ICEC, through its internationalisation brand, Catalan Arts, has also published a booklet of startup companies to further promote their participation of the Catalan representatives.

The ICEC’s participation at 4YFN is part of the its strategy to promote the growth and acceleration of Catalan startups in the cultural sector, contributing to their international positioning and projection and connecting with investors from around the world, a strategy that combines acceleration programmes, a personalised advisory service delivered through the Digital Culture Area and the ICEC offices in Europe, as well as support at international fairs and events such as 4YFN.
