Primavera Pro 2020 and Catalan Arts open a window onto the Catalan music scene with a selection of online performances

  • Nine artists will participate in the showcases of the digital edition of the professional meeting between 21st and 24th July
  • The performances will be broadcast in open live streaming and will then be hosted on the platform for accredited professionals

The online edition that Primavera Pro 2020 will hold from 21st to 24th July will be, as always, a meeting point for music. Also, and this time more than ever, it will be a screen open to talent. The professional meeting did not want the transition from its activities to a digital environment to be an obstacle to discussing the issues that most motivate the sector. Nor did it want it to be a reason not to dance and to get excited about a song.

At the end of each day of conferences, the Primavera Pro streaming platform will become a genuine festival of showcases, broadcasting performances by nine Catalan artists, live from La (2) de Apolo. These concerts have been produced in collaboration with Catalan Arts, the internationalization brand for cultural companies promoted by the Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals (ICEC), and they represent a gesture of conviction and commitment to the international projection of a local scene that year after year adds key artists to the global panorama.

The lively jazz and flamenco fusion by Los Aurora will be the first concert in the evening of July 21st, just after the presentation of the Primavera Award to the Taller de Músics, the institution that saw the beginning of their musical career. They will be followed by other proposals that reflect the wealth of styles, accents and textures that form the melting pot of Catalan music: from the quiet psychedelia of Marialluïsa to the hard hitting flow from La Tiguerita.

On the 22nd, the water rings created by Anna Andreu's voice will break on the impulsive beats of MANS O. And on the following day, the expansive atmosphere that Joana Gomila creates with her folk will be followed by the post-teen angst emojis by Kids from Mars. Finally, Friday the 24th will be the day that Penélope will stage the seduction strategy of their celebrated debut album and the party will end with the powerful pop curve encapsulated by Barbott in their most recent songs.

All the performances will be open to the public via live streaming on the Primavera Pro platform. Later, they will be hosted in the area for accredited professionals, available to watch on demand and will include the contact information of each artist. In addition, on Tuesday, July 21st, Radio Primavera Sound will do a special programme in which journalists Ben Cardew and Marta Salicrú will present and contextualize each of the proposals. Like the rest of the sessions, the broadcast can be followed live free of charge.

These showcases add a new dimension to the programme of conferences already announced for the event, which includes sessions dedicated to the future of music after the pandemic and the rise of Latin American music for an increasingly cross-sectional audience. Together with the second edition of the Insumisas seminar on culture and feminism, and master classes on optimizing the use and the interpretation of data on social networks, as well as guides to good practice for creating marketing campaigns with a significant message in digital environments.

The passes for the online edition of Primavera Pro 2020 can be purchased at the price of 40 € on the Redtkt portal. On the same page you can get hold of the last accreditations for Primavera Pro Barcelona 2021 for 230 €. Booking fees are not included in the price of the tickets.
