  • The festival will take place with all required safety measures in a hybrid format combining on-site and online activities
  • Eufònic Pro, the sound and digital arts festival's pro day, takes place with the support of Catalan Arts

From 27 to 30 August 2020, the festival of sound, visual, digital and performative arts Eufònic will once again be the meeting place for creators and audiences interested in these disciplines. The event, which this year includes on-site activities in Sant Carles de la Ràpita and a number of online professional proposals, is a must-see for programmers, curators and cultural managers from home and abroad wanting to know the latest in audiovisual media, experimental music, artistic and sound installations and the performative arts.

The 2020 edition of Eufònic, its ninth, will bring over 40 artists to Les Terres de l'Ebre, including famous names such as cabosanroque, Magalí Sare and Lu Rois, Enric Casasses, Tarta Relena and seminal sound artist Vacca. The festival's diverse programme – featuring from installations reflecting the body, space and sound to interactive 3D montages to electropop, deconstructed folk and avant-garde music, amongst others – is proof of its commitment to research and desire to be the catalyst for the reunion of arts and culture. In a year marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, Eufònic is a safe event with talks, performances and concerts, art installations and workshops and remote activities that comply with all established safety regulations.

Eufònic Pro: an international meeting for networking and reflection

The festival also includes a Pro Day – scheduled for Friday 28 August in a hybrid format combining face-to-face and online activities – with big names in the sound and visual arts and festival programmers and venues including IMAL (Belgium), ZKM (Germany), Submerge (England), Elektra (Canada), Gamma (Russia) and TodaysArt (Netherlands).

The Eufònic Pro programme was designed by Sónar +D curator Antònia Folguera and Marta Oliveres of El Álamo Creative Management, and has the promotional support of Catalan Arts, the internationalisation brand of the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies, which will make all its know-how and promotion and communication resources available to the organisers whilst providing connections to enable streamed activities to reach the international community.

The goal of this collaboration is to foster knowledge exchange and facilitate the professionalisation, visibility and mobility of Catalan artists working in the digital field, frequently using hybrid performative formats where telepresence is combined with embodiment or personification.
